How are Telehealth Appointments conducted?
Telehealth appointments are conducted via video-chat using the Doxy.me platform. Doxy.me is a secure platform to ensure confidentiality. When you book a telehealth appointment, I will send you a link via email. To attend your appointment, simply click on the link to be taken to my waiting room. Telehealth sessions can be conducted on your smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer.
Do I need a referral?
Self-referrals are welcome, so you can book an appointment even if you don’t have a referral from your doctor. I can also accept a referral from your GP or other healthcare provider. There is no limit to the number of sessions that you can have.
What if I’m not sure that counselling is right for me?
If you’re feeling unsure, please feel free to get in touch. You can email, call or fill in the contact form on this website. As a new client, you can also request a free 10-minute initial phone consultation to give you a chance to ask questions and get a feel for whether you feel comfortable with me.
Do you offer after-hours appointments?
I do have a number of appointment slots outside of ordinary business hours. This is to accommodate folks who work full-time who don’t want to take time off work. My after-hours appointments cost $140 and are available on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
Your service is LGBTQIA+ friendly. Do I have to be LGBTQIA+ to attend?
Nope, Fairy Wren Counselling is open to all adults regardless of sexuality, gender, cultural background, nationality or age. I do not discriminate against potential clients, and my doors are open to all.
What if I want to stop counselling services?
If you want to cease counselling, you can do so at any time. I simply ask that you let me know that you’re not going to continue.
I’m neurodivergent, will my needs be accepted and respected during counselling?
Absolutely. I have experience working with neurodiverse clients and will work with you to gain an understanding of your personal needs and boundaries. I will tailor our sessions to meet your needs, providing accommodations and modifications to make sure that you feel safe and supported.
Do you work with non-monogamous and polyamorous clients?
I sure do! I welcome clients who have non-traditional relationship structures. Whether you’re just beginning to explore non-monogamy, are having issues in a new or established relationship, or are simply looking to develop a sense of security and stability within your own emotional world, I’d love to help you out.
I have lived experience with non-monogamy and polyamory and enjoy working with people in this space to find deeper understanding, clearer communication and more connection in their relationships.
I have an NDIS plan. Can I use my NDIS funding to pay for counselling sessions?
Yes! I am able to work with self- and plan-managed NDIS participants.
What are your qualifications?
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Diploma of Counselling. I am also a member of the Australian Counselling Association, which has strict ethical guidelines and requirements for members to attend regular supervision and continuing education.
I don’t live in Ballarat, can I still access your services?
Absolutely! I offer telehealth services to all people over the age of 18. These appointments are available Australia-wide.
Can I book an appointment online?
Absolutely! I offer online bookings via my Halaxy portal. All you need to do is fill in your details and indicate the date and time that you would like to book in. Please note that only telehealth appointments can be booked through my online portal. If you would like to arrange a face-to-face session, please email or telephone to make an inquiry.
Can I claim a rebate through my health insurance provider?
Members of Grand United Health and Doctors Health Fund may be eligible to apply for a rebate through their individual health insurance policy. You will need to contact your health insurance provider to find out whether counselling is covered by your individual policy.
What is your privacy policy and website terms of service?
Can I claim a Medicare rebate on counselling services?
At present, counselling services are not covered under Medicare. However, I have taken this into account and have set my fees to be roughly the same as the average out-of-pocket cost that you’d pay to see a Psychologist with a Mental Health Care Plan.
