If there’s one thing I love almost as much as counselling, it’s teaching. Education and learning are really important to me, and I enjoy being able to work with people to teach them new things and help them to better understand themselves. This year, I began teaching a workshop called The Science of Stress Management, and every time I’ve run it it’s been such a blast.
The aim of this workshop is to teach people what stress is and how to manage it. Most of us know when we feel stressed out, and you might recognise a need to manage your stress levels, but it’s pretty common to feel a bit lost when it comes to actually doing it. It’s hard to put measures in place to reduce stress if you don’t know what it is, how it impacts your body and mind and what actually works to keep it at bay. That’s where I come in.
I’ve created this workshop as a way to demystify stress management and to provide simple, practical solutions that can help reduce stress. I’ve based the workshop on neuroscientific research, in order to help you understand what’s going on in your brain and body when you’re feeling stressed. The solutions that I suggest are all backed up by science, and I’ll explain not only what they are, but how they work.
I’ve taught this workshop at a number of different locations, including the Ballarat Library and The Parent Place. I’m very eager to bring this workshop to as many people as possible. Chronic stress is such a massive issue, and the first step towards addressing it is understanding it better. The more people who know what stress is and how to take care of themselves, the better.
I am available to teach The Science of Stress Management to groups, big and small. If you run a business or community group, this would be a fantastic way to support the people in that group.
The workshop runs for around an hour, and covers topics like:
- What stress is
- How stress impacts our lives
- Why do some people feel more stressed than others?
- How to manage chronic stress
- Evidence based steps for taking care of your nervous system.
I also leave time for questions at the end, which is always my favourite part of the presentation. I’ve had some amazing discussions with audience members during question time and I truly value the opportunity to have these conversations.
This workshop is a great opportunity to learn more about chronic stress and find simple solutions to manage it. It’s a starting point for powerful conversations and opens the door to finding ways to support yourself and the people around you.
If you’d like to learn more, or if you’re interested in booking me to run a Stress Management workshop, please feel encouraged to get in touch. I would love the opportunity to work with you.
